Amazon Acquires Video Enabled Doorbell Startup 'Ring'

Amazon has purchased video doorbell startup Ring, an attempt of delivery arm to gain more access into people's homes.

The deal is predicted to be valued at more than a billion USD, however, the company did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition.

An Amazon spokesperson said, "We're excited to work with this talented team and help them in their mission to keep homes safe and secure.

California-based Ring first grabbed the spotlight with a failed quest for funding about five years ago on reality television show Shark Tank. Lately Ring received backing from the likes of billionaire Richard Branson and Amazon's Alexa Fund.

In a statement, Ring said, "Ring is committed to our mission to reduce crime in neighborhoods by providing effective yet affordable home security tools to our neighbors that make a positive impact on our homes, communities and the world. We look forward to being a part of the Amazon team as we work toward our vision for safer neighborhoods."
